The two bedroom and one bath farm house is located on 75 acres of wooded hills which is perfect for those with an exploring nature of hiking. Fishing poles available upon request. Easily accessed attractions of Cummins Falls State Park , Dale Hollow Lake , the small town country squares of Gainesboro and Celina, and the larger city of Cookeville are all within a 10 to 25 minute drive. Camping is also available if so desired.
Bedrooms are furnished with full sized beds, chest of draws and closet space. Kitchen equipped with refrigerator and ice maker, electric stove and oven, coffee pot with filters, table and chairs, plates, glass ware and small assortment of pots, pans, utensils for basic cooking. Front porch is furnished with two chairs and foot stools and a large propane grill. Equipped with washer and dryer. Internet is provided fiber optic with good speed. Cell phone reception a challenge at the farm house with cell phone use best through the house Wifi.
This farm house was built for my Aunt Ann Walker. Ann was born here on the farm in 1888 and lived in the original Log Cabin before moving into the farm house. Ann never married and lived a country 1800's type of life style and loved her farm with all of her heart. The original log cabin was located near the lower spring and is no longer standing and burned in 1953. Ann is buried in the Walker family cemetery along with my great grandparents and great , great grandparents.
Local restaurant menus are available found in a folder provided . For a traditional breakfast with the locals there is Faye's Cafe open at 5:30 am on the square. For Lunch and Dinner Restaurants , Bull and Thistle ( one of the coolest restaurants in the State of Tennessee and located on the square , open Fridays , Saturdays and Sunday brunch. ) , Stolen Coin Oyster bar and Bistro on the Square , Casa Grande Mexican Grill , Giovanni's Italian , Helen's ( on top of the hill on hwy 56 ) , Dairy Queen, Subway.
Gainesboro's town square has been host to the filming of the 1970 Hollywood movie " I Walk The Line " with Gregory Peck and Tuesday Weld. Johnny Cash sings the title song and several other songs in the movie. It is interesting to see the specific buildings on the square in the movie compared to what they look like today. Also , Cordell Hull a local lawyer , congressman and judge in the towns court house became famous in his time as Speaker of the House of Representatives, Secretary of State during World War 2, founder of the United Nations and Nobel Peace Prize winner. Gainesboro is the County seat of Jackson County. Jackson County named after Tennessee President Andrew Jackson and Gainesboro named after General Gaines , one of Andrew Jackson's Generals. I think you will enjoy your stay. The area is country , secluded and quiet.
